MARA ARANDA IN III INTERNATIONAL COURSE AND FESTIVAL OF MEDIEVAL AND RENAISSANCE MUSIC IN MORELLA

The seminar will take place between July 19-24th and will be about Sephardic Music in Mediterranean tradition,songs and percussion.

There will be other activities too: exhibition of instruments of the period,conferences in charge of true specialists who will go deeper in the reasons and the historical repercussion of San Vicente Ferrer and The Pope “Luna” and the musical elements in Middle Ages and Renaissance; auditions in the different specialities of the course, a nocturnal visit to the castle and the concerts of the Medieval and Renaissance Music Festival that will take place in the gothic halls of Morella’s Town Hall, Santa Maria la Mayor Church, built between 1265 and 1330 where you can see the historic organ of Turull.

In Real Convento of San Francisco too, founded in 1272 that keeps the gothic cloisters where we can find a mural picture from XV century, representing a medieval dance: La Dansa de la Mort (The dance of the Death), the axial motive of the course since its creation. In this edition there will be an additional seminar about traditional music and its link with the Renaissance and Medieval ones, with specialists in traditional mediterranean instruments and melodies.
