To mark the 450th anniversary of the arrival of the Sephardim at the Ottoman Empire, the Embassy of Spain in Sarajevo is pleased to invite you to the concert of Sephardic music, played by Mara Aranda, organized in collaboration with the city of Sarajevo. Mara Aranda is known as one of the leading interpreters of Sephardic music. With twenty albums released and 25 year career in which he has performed in major venues in Europe, Mara Aranda is considered one of the great researchers and interpreters of Sephardic music. Their repertoire highlights the importance of music and songs that have been part of the life of the Spanish Jews in the Iberian Peninsula until the fifteenth century in North Africa, the Balkans and other parts of Eastern Europe. She will be accompanied on this occasion by Jota Martinez, specialist of instruments from the Spanish medieval tradition as citole, moorish guitar and hurdy-gurdy and Abel Garcia, specializes in stringed instruments from the Eastern Mediterranean such as laouto, baglama and hurdy-gurdy.
