Obrint Pas wraps up a long career this week with three last gigs at the Teatro Principal in Valencia on May 22nd, 23rd and 24th
The bright future created by Valencian group Obrint Pas wouldn’t have been possible without their deep understanding of a very alive tradition and their unashamed protest at modern architypes: “Rock’n’Roll and mediaeval instruments, are you guys crazy?” -that’s what people said at the end of the 90s. Many of Valencian nationalist and author Joan Fuster’s verses are present throughout their work, ‘don’t stand around and let time pass you by, go out into the street and make a difference: they’ll never be able to stand against a united, happy and combative people’ -words popularised by Obrint Pas years ago.
Obrint Pas say goodbye and do so in style, all together, and with a group of renowned friends and Valencian artists, like Mara Aranda who will perform two of the tracks from their last album, ‘Al País de l’Olivera’ and ‘Jota dels Valencians’.
The gigs promise to be intense; filled with emotion. We hope to share that emotion with all of you.
